Brigante
Recently, we had the chance to sit down with Vinnie Brigante to chat about everything that’s been happening in his life and career. Here’s how it all went down.
Melbourne-based artist Vinnie Brigante is rapidly emerging as one of the most exciting new voices in the music scene. A former barber, Vinnie's path to music stardom has been nothing short of extraordinary. His debut single, Worth It In The End, released on July 10, 2024, marks the beginning of a career that promises to capture the hearts of listeners far beyond Australia. But it all started in a way no one could have predicted.
Vinnie's big break came in December 2023, when he found himself standing in front of a crowd of 30,000 at Zach Bryan’s historic show in Melbourne. Holding up a sign that read, “Can I play Heading South with you?”, Vinnie’s life changed forever when Zach Bryan noticed the sign and invited him on stage. What followed was a performance that blew away the crowd and quickly went viral. That moment not only put Vinnie on the map but also led to an appearance on Channel 7’s Sunrise the very next day.
The Beginning of It All: What Inspired You to Make Music?
Vinnie’s musical journey actually began much earlier in life. “I wrote my first-ever song with my little brother and sister in our band called Rocky City,” he laughs. “The song was called ‘She’s Walkin’,’ and it was TERRIBLE, but we had so much fun.” Though those early days were just for fun, Vinnie’s love for music stayed with him. What really reignited his passion was the euphoria he felt playing on stage with Zach Bryan. “Seeing Zach have the crowd in the palm of his hands, sharing his life through music, I knew I had to start sharing my own story too,” Vinnie recalls.
Musical Influences: From Bruce Springsteen to Harry Styles
Vinnie’s musical tastes are as diverse as his journey. “I love Bruce Springsteen’s ability to tell stories in such a captivating way,” he says, admiring the way Springsteen paints vivid pictures through his lyrics. He also looks up to Noah Kahan for his intricate, poetic storytelling and Harry Styles for his unique blend of production, experimentation, and performance. “His music is chef’s kiss,” Vinnie adds. “I truly believe Harry Styles is one of the best performers of our generation.”
The Art of Songwriting
As a barber by day, Vinnie spends a lot of time talking to people, and it’s here where much of his songwriting inspiration is born. “My phone is full of random lyrics and poems I’ve jotted down,” Vinnie explains. “As a barber, I hear so many interesting stories, and sometimes people say the most poetic things without even realising it.” One of his songs, Let Go Of Me, features a lyric inspired by a client’s story: “My love can go till numbers end.” “I thought that was so poetic, so I put it in the song,” he says.
Vinnie’s writing process is also influenced by the music he listens to. “I love listening to other songs during a writing session—whether it’s the cadence or the drums—there’s so much to learn from the best of the best.”
The Debut EP: A Snapshot of Early Work
Vinnie’s debut EP, includes Worth It In The End, offers a glimpse into his early musical journey. "The EP is a bit of a chaotic one,” he laughs. "The first single, Worth It In The End, is about having a conversation with my younger self. It’s my way of reflecting on where I’ve come from and where I’m going." Other tracks, like After You (Carolina), delve into personal struggles, exploring themes of emotional tug-of-war and the difficulty of letting go. Free to Be Alone is about allowing someone to grow and change without hurting the other person in the process.
“This EP feels like a time capsule of my early work, and I’m excited for what’s to come next,” Vinnie says, reflecting on his first steps in the music world.
Triple J and the Power of Media Exposure
Vinnie has also started to make a name for himself through national radio exposure. His interview with Triple J’s Country Hour was an unforgettable moment in his rise to fame. “The Triple J team is awesome, and I was so excited when they reached out to me for the interview,” Vinnie says. “I didn’t expect my mum to sit through an hour and a half of Triple J, thinking she’d hear my interview on air. She didn’t realise it was on Triple J Unearthed!” It’s clear that Vinnie’s ability to connect with fans and media is already taking off, and his presence in Australia’s music scene is only growing stronger.

The Importance of Connecting with Fans
In an age where online presence is everything, Vinnie’s social media strategy is on point. “I take a lot of inspiration from the Sidemen, a YouTube group from the UK,” he says. “Their content is real, funny, and easy to watch, which is what I try to bring to my own platforms.” Vinnie grew up creating content—whether it was Minecraft videos, magic tricks, or stop-motion Lego films—and this experience has shaped his approach as an artist.
“I’ve always been creating content, so it feels natural to me. Making content as an artist is non-negotiable. It’s how I connect with my audience, and I want them to not only love my music but also get to know me,” he adds.
Dealing with Self-Doubt and Imposter Syndrome
Despite his growing success, Vinnie is open about the challenges he faces. “I’ve definitely struggled with self-doubt and imposter syndrome,” he admits. “I skipped a lot of the steps most musicians take, and that can make me question whether I’m worthy of this journey.” But he’s determined to leave that doubt behind. “2025 is going to be the year I kick doubt in the ass!” Vinnie’s drive to push past these insecurities is evident in everything he does, from his music to his public persona.
Building a Connection Beyond the Music
The support Vinnie has received from his fans has been nothing short of overwhelming. "I’ve had some incredible feedback, and the love I get is amazing,” he says. “One person who’s been incredibly important for my confidence is Frankie—she’s been so supportive, and I hope she knows how much that means to me.” Vinnie’s bond with his fans is clearly a priority, and he continues to express gratitude for the community that’s formed around his music.
Sharing the Stage with Zach Bryan: The Ultimate Dream Come True
Of course, Vinnie’s unforgettable experience on stage with Zach Bryan remains a pivotal moment in his career. “A couple of months before the concert, I started manifesting that I would play with him. I kept telling everyone, ‘When he comes, I’m going to play with him on stage,’” Vinnie shares. When the moment finally came, Vinnie’s boldness paid off as he was invited to sing Heading South in front of 30,000 people. “I wasn’t nervous at all,” Vinnie claims. “It was one of the most fun experiences of my life.”

Looking Ahead: Big Plans for 2025
Looking toward the future, Vinnie has big plans for his music and live performances. “I want to take my live show to the next level in 2025. I’d love to play with a band and create something really special for my fans,” he says. Collaborations with other artists are also on his radar, and he’s particularly excited about working with a female artist in the future.
“2025 is going to be massive,” Vinnie concludes. With his talent, drive, and unique journey, there’s no doubt that this rising star is just getting started.
